Onsite Fitness Classes

What are Onsite Fitness Classes?

onsite fitness classes

On-site fitness classes are classes conducted in or near your office premises. This allows your employees to exercise and engage in a shared activity together at the convenience of being at the office.

As a company or organisation, it is important to look after the welfare of your staff as they are the cornerstone to success. If a staff member is happy to go to the office, they are more likely to be motivated and perform their role well.

Workplace wellness programmes which comprise fitness classes are a great place to start!

Benefits of Onsite Fitness Classes

Convenient and Efficient

Having on-site group fitness classes brings the workout to the workplace, making it easier for employees to attend without having to leave the office.

This saves employees time and money by eliminating travel time, as well as other expenses associated with attending gym classes. Not only do they save money, they also offer the convenience of being able to workout at your desk or in your company’s lounge during breaks or lunch hours.

Motivating each other

On-site fitness classes also build camaraderie among employees as they work out together and help complete each other’s goals. If you have a big company with multiple departments, this also provides a good opportunity for employees from various departments to interact with each other.

Close colleagues can also encourage each other, especially those who are not active to start exercising since it is so convenient to participate!

Better health, well-being and productivity

Offering on-site fitness classes can be an important part of a workplace wellness program, as it boosts employee productivity and creates a healthier workforce.

By offering its employees fitness classes and health and wellbeing activities, your company can boost spending company time on physical activity rather than hindering employee productivity by having employees leave the workplace for fitness activities.

When a company offers its employees the opportunity to take advantage of a wellness program, it shows that the company cares about its employees and is willing to invest in their health.

Will my company benefit from having an on-site fitness programme?

Here’s how you can decide if an on-site fitness programme will be suitable for your company:

My employees/colleagues are not active and are often falling sick

If your employees or colleagues are currently not physically active and are often falling sick, it is a sign that they are not making their health and fitness a priority. An on-site fitness programme at the convenience of being held in the offices can be a simple start to getting them to start thinking about their wellness.

My employees/colleagues are often working overtime, or are often absent due to medical leave

Contrary to popular belief, spending time on fitness programmes can help boost productivity by improving moods via post-exercise endorphins, which are “feel-good” hormones. Endorphins help to improve moods by reducing the perception of pain, and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Physical exercise also helps to boost the immune system by increasing the number of white blood cells in the body, which helps to fight infections and other diseases.

We currently do not have any corporate wellness programme

If your company currently does not have an on-site fitness programme, you are missing out on all the benefits mentioned above!

Types of Fitness Classes we offer

yoga classes

Stretch out your stiff backs and hips and achieve a state of inner calm. Yoga provides a combination of strengthening and stretching exercises to improve your general strength and flexibility. With calming music and flows, yoga also encourages slow and purposeful breathing to allow you to be in a state of calm. This can be beneficial during, and even outside of the yoga session!

cardio and strength classes

People often have a misconception about strength training as they usually equate it to bodybuilding. The same goes for cardiovascular training, as people often think it’s only applicable if you like to run or go for marathons.

Strength and cardiovascular training provides a host of benefits, including:

  1. Allowing you to climb the overhead bridge or a few flights of steps without getting out of breath or feeling sore
  2. Helping you to run for that bus and actually being able to catch it in time
  3. Allowing seniors to continue moving well as they get older
  4. Giving you the ability to carry bags of groceries or your child for long periods without feeling sore or getting a backache

The great thing about cardiovascular and strength training is that both of them can be scaled up or down to allow a person at any fitness level to start exercising and still be challenged in a positive way!

Dance is a great way to keep fit, especially if you are trying to exercise for the first time! Music helps to get the body to move naturally and keeps you engaged. Before you know it, you would have completed an entire hour of exercising just by staying on your feet and moving to the beats.

Be it Zumba or Kpop dance, our dance classes can be customized to fit the preferred tempo and music style of your choice!

With our modern style of working, most of our offices require employees to sit in front of their desks and monitors for hours every day. This results in muscle tightness and joint stiffness, especially in the neck, shoulders, back and hips.

At Retrofit, we are particularly focused on helping people to live better by moving better. Our stretching and mobility classes are focused on restoring movement and increasing mobility in areas like the neck, shoulders and hips where tightness is most commonly found. These exercises will help to promote blood circulation, increase flexibility in the tight muscles and also strengthen chronically weak muscles. They are easy to learn and can be done throughout the day to maintain mobility and flexibility.

Are your employees or colleagues always complaining of stiffness and soreness in their necks, shoulders or backs? Chances are, their working postures need to be improved.

Despite the adjustability of office chairs, desktop monitors or desks, many individuals still suffer from poor working ergonomics. To add on to that, most of us do not have the muscle endurance to stay in any optimal posture for too long, and we end up slouching and having really bad posture. Left unresolved, these can develop into chronic pain conditions and permanent posture changes.

Our posture correction focuses on educating employees on how to find a more optimal posture, and simple exercises that can be done at the work desk to alleviate muscle soreness, joint stiffness and prevent workplace injuries.
